Description

A quick and comforting wonton soup made with savory broth and tender wontons, perfect for a weeknight meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 package of frozen wontons (about 20 wontons)
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, sliced
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1/2 cup baby bok choy or spinach (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat the chicken broth over medium heat.
  2. Add soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, and ginger slices. Stir and bring to a simmer.
  3. Add the frozen wontons to the pot and cook according to package instructions, usually 5-7 minutes.
  4. Once the wontons are cooked, add the baby bok choy or spinach (if using) and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until wilted.
  5. Season the soup with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Remove the ginger slices and discard them.
  7. Serve the soup in bowls and garnish with sliced green onions.

Notes

  • If you want a richer broth, you can add a splash of chicken or vegetable stock concentrate.
  • Use any leafy greens you prefer, like kale or bok choy.
  • For a spicy kick, add a dash of chili oil or red pepper flakes.
