Description

Candied strawberries are fresh strawberries coated in a shiny, crunchy sugar shell. A fun and easy treat perfect for parties or special occasions.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 pint fresh strawberries (about 15-20), washed and dried thoroughly
  • Skewers or toothpicks

Instructions

  1. Insert skewers or toothpicks into the tops of the strawberries.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, water, and corn syrup. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil without stirring until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage) on a candy thermometer, about 10–15 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat immediately once it reaches the right temperature.
  5. Working quickly, dip each strawberry into the hot syrup, coating it evenly.
  6. Place dipped strawberries on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool and harden.
  7. Allow to cool completely before serving.

Notes

  • Make sure strawberries are completely dry to help the coating stick.
  • Use a candy thermometer for accurate temperature reading.
  • Work quickly once the sugar syrup is ready as it hardens fast.
