Description

Strawberry Cream Cheese French Toast Bake is a decadent make-ahead breakfast casserole layered with fluffy bread, fresh strawberries, and sweetened cream cheese—perfect for brunch or holiday mornings.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread, cut into 1-inch cubes (about 10 cups)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: powdered sugar and extra strawberries for topping

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread half of the bread cubes in the dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Drop spoonfuls over the bread layer.
  3. Sprinkle sliced strawberries over cream cheese. Top with remaining bread cubes.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Pour evenly over the bread layers.
  5. Gently press down the bread to soak in the liquid. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  6. When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes or until center is set and top is golden brown.
  7. Let cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar and top with additional strawberries before serving.

Notes

  • Use day-old bread for best texture—it soaks up the custard without getting mushy.
  • You can substitute raspberries or blueberries for the strawberries.
  • Great for holidays—assemble the night before and bake fresh in the morning.
