Description

These festive Star-Spangled Brownies are rich, fudgy, and perfect for patriotic celebrations with a topping of red, white, and blue decorations.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/2 cup white frosting
  • Red, white, and blue sprinkles or candies

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  3. Beat in cocoa, flour, salt, and baking powder until fully combined.
  4. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  5. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Let cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
  8. Once cooled, spread white frosting over the top.
  9. Decorate with red, white, and blue sprinkles or candies in a star pattern.
  10. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

  • Chill the brownies before frosting for easier spreading.
  • Use gel food coloring to tint frosting if you want more color contrast.
  • Great for July 4th, Memorial Day, or other patriotic holidays.
