These festive Star-Spangled Brownies are rich, fudgy, and perfect for patriotic celebrations with a topping of red, white, and blue decorations.

- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
- 1/2 cup white frosting
- Red, white, and blue sprinkles or candies
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
- Beat in cocoa, flour, salt, and baking powder until fully combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips if using.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
- Once cooled, spread white frosting over the top.
- Decorate with red, white, and blue sprinkles or candies in a star pattern.
- Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
- Chill the brownies before frosting for easier spreading.
- Use gel food coloring to tint frosting if you want more color contrast.
- Great for July 4th, Memorial Day, or other patriotic holidays.
