Ingredients
Scale
Pizza Dough and Base
- 1 ball (about 1 lb) pizza dough
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- cornmeal or flour for dusting
Cheeses
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Toppings and Seasoning
- 1 cup fresh spinach, roughly chopped
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it is heating to ensure a crispy crust.
- Roll Out Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a 12-inch circle or oval shape. Sprinkle cornmeal or flour on a pizza peel or baking sheet, then place the rolled dough on it for easy transfer.
- Add Olive Oil and Garlic: Brush the surface of the dough evenly with olive oil. Sprinkle the minced garlic over the dough, distributing it well for a fragrant base.
- Layer Cheeses: Place dollops of ricotta cheese across the dough, then evenly sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan on top, creating a rich, cheesy layer.
- Add Spinach and Season: Scatter the fresh chopped spinach evenly over the cheese. Season the pizza with salt, black pepper, and if desired, a pinch of red pepper flakes for a slight kick.
- Bake: Transfer the pizza carefully to the preheated oven or pizza stone. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the crust turns golden and the cheese is bubbling and lightly browned.
- Slice and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool slightly, then slice into 4 pieces and serve warm.
Notes
- For more flavor, sauté the spinach briefly before spreading it on the pizza, or mix it into the ricotta cheese with some lemon zest.
- This pizza can be made using flatbread or naan for a quicker, easier alternative to traditional dough.
- Using a pizza stone helps to achieve a crispier crust but is optional.
- Red pepper flakes add a nice touch of heat but are optional depending on your taste preference.
