Description

A bold and refreshing cocktail blending smoky mezcal, sweet pineapple, and a spicy kick of jalapeño for a tropical twist on a classic margarita.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 oz mezcal
  • 1 oz triple sec or orange liqueur
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 2 oz pineapple juice
  • 1/2 oz agave syrup
  • 23 slices fresh jalapeño (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika (for garnish)
  • Coarse salt and chili powder (for rimming glass)
  • Pineapple wedge and jalapeño slice (for garnish)
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Rim a glass with a mix of coarse salt and chili powder. Fill with ice and set aside.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, muddle the jalapeño slices.
  3. Add mezcal, triple sec, lime juice, pineapple juice, and agave syrup to the shaker with ice.
  4. Shake well for about 15 seconds until chilled.
  5. Strain into the prepared glass over fresh ice.
  6. Garnish with a pineapple wedge, jalapeño slice, and a dash of smoked paprika.

Notes

  • Adjust the number of jalapeño slices for more or less heat.
  • For a smokier flavor, grill the pineapple before juicing.
  • Can substitute tequila for mezcal if desired.
