Description

A festive and colorful marble cake featuring red, white, and blue swirls, perfect for patriotic holidays like the 4th of July.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • Red food coloring
  • Blue food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt or loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
  4. Alternately add flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with flour. Mix until just combined.
  5. Divide batter evenly into three bowls. Leave one plain, add red food coloring to one, and blue food coloring to the other.
  6. Spoon the three batters into the prepared pan in layers or dollops, then use a knife to gently swirl for a marbled effect.
  7. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then remove and let cool completely on a wire rack.

Notes

  • Use gel food coloring for more vibrant colors.
  • This cake can be topped with powdered sugar or a light glaze for extra sweetness.
  • Ensure not to overmix the batter when swirling to maintain a marbled effect.
