Description

Festive Red, White & Blue Cake Pops are perfect for patriotic celebrations like the 4th of July. These bite-sized treats are made from crumbled cake mixed with frosting, shaped into balls, and dipped in colorful candy melts.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 box vanilla cake mix (plus ingredients required to bake it)
  • 1/2 cup vanilla frosting
  • 1 cup red candy melts
  • 1 cup white candy melts
  • 1 cup blue candy melts
  • Sprinkles (red, white, and blue)
  • Cake pop sticks
  • Styrofoam block or cake pop stand (for drying)

Instructions

  1. Bake the vanilla cake according to package directions and let it cool completely.
  2. Crumble the cooled cake into a large bowl.
  3. Add the vanilla frosting and mix until a dough-like consistency forms.
  4. Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Chill the cake balls in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  6. Melt each color of candy melts in separate bowls according to package instructions.
  7. Dip the end of each stick into melted candy and insert it halfway into a cake ball. Let set for a few minutes.
  8. Dip the cake pops into the candy melts, covering completely. Tap gently to remove excess coating.
  9. Decorate with red, white, and blue sprinkles before the coating sets.
  10. Place the cake pops upright in a Styrofoam block to dry completely.

Notes

  • You can use homemade cake and frosting if preferred.
  • Work in batches to keep the cake pops chilled for easier dipping.
  • Use paramount crystals or a bit of coconut oil to thin the candy melts if too thick.
