Description

Festive Red, White, and Blue Rice Krispie Treats are a fun and easy no-bake dessert perfect for patriotic holidays like the 4th of July, Memorial Day, or Labor Day.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 package (10 oz) mini marshmallows
  • Red food coloring
  • Blue food coloring
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Sprinkles (red, white, and blue), optional for decoration

Instructions

  1. Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Divide the marshmallows and butter evenly into three portions (2 tablespoons butter and 3 1/3 cups marshmallows per portion).
  3. In a large saucepan, melt the first portion of butter over low heat. Add the first portion of marshmallows and stir until melted. Add a few drops of red food coloring and stir until the color is evenly distributed.
  4. Remove from heat and quickly stir in 2 cups of Rice Krispies cereal. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  5. Repeat the process for the second layer without adding any food coloring to keep it white. Spread over the red layer and press down evenly.
  6. Repeat the process for the third layer, using blue food coloring. Spread over the white layer and press down gently.
  7. Optionally, add red, white, and blue sprinkles on top while the treats are still slightly warm.
  8. Let the treats cool completely at room temperature, then cut into squares and serve.

Notes

  • Use gel food coloring for more vibrant colors.
  • Lightly grease your hands or a spatula to press the layers without sticking.
  • You can add a bit of vanilla extract for extra flavor.
