Ingredients
Scale
Beef Marinade
- 1 pound flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- Pinch of black pepper
Stir-Fry
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1/2 cup sliced carrots
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1/4 cup water or beef broth
Instructions
- Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, toss the thinly sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and a pinch of black pepper. Let it marinate for 10 minutes to tenderize and absorb flavor.
- Sear the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef slices in a single layer and let them sear without stirring for 2 to 3 minutes to develop a nice crust. Then stir-fry for an additional 1 to 2 minutes until just cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
- Cook the Vegetables: Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the same pan. Toss in the sliced red bell pepper, broccoli florets, and carrots. Stir-fry for 3 to 4 minutes until the vegetables are crisp-tender, maintaining their vibrant colors and crunch.
- Add Aromatics: Stir in the minced garlic and grated fresh ginger, cooking for about 30 seconds until fragrant, which will enhance the overall flavor of the dish.
- Combine and Finish: Return the seared beef to the pan. Stir in oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and the 1/4 cup of water or beef broth. Cook for another 1 to 2 minutes, stirring often to coat all ingredients in the sauce and heat through evenly.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle the sliced green onions over the stir-fry and serve immediately, ideally over steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.
Notes
- Serve over steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal.
- Swap in snap peas, mushrooms, or baby corn as alternate vegetables based on preference or availability.
- For extra heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a splash of chili oil during cooking.
