Description
Classic, easy-to-make apple dumplings wrapped in crescent roll dough and baked in a buttery sugar and citrus soda sauce.
Ingredients
- 2 Granny Smith apples
- 2 (8 oz) cans crescent rolls
- 1 cup butter
- 1½ cups sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 (12 oz) can Mountain Dew (or lemon-lime soda)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 °F and butter a 9 × 13‑inch baking dish.
- Peel, core, and cut each apple into 8 wedges.
- Unroll crescents; separate into 16 triangles. Wrap each apple wedge in dough and place in dish.
- In a saucepan, melt butter, add sugar and stir barely until grainy. Stir in vanilla.
- Pour mixture over dumplings. Pour soda around edges and sprinkle with cinnamon.
- Bake 30–45 minutes until dumplings are golden and sauce is bubbling.
- Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream, spooning sauce over top.
Notes
- For less soda, use ⅔ can or one smaller can.
- Substitute Sprite or 7‑Up for Mountain Dew.
- Leftovers keep up to 2 days in fridge; reheat in oven or microwave.
- Variations: add nuts or raisins in center before wrapping.
