Description

Peach Sweet Tea is a refreshing Southern-inspired beverage that combines the natural sweetness of ripe peaches with the robust flavor of black tea. This homemade iced tea is perfectly balanced with a hint of lemon juice and can be served chilled over ice for a delightful summer drink.

Ingredients

Scale

Peach Syrup

  • 3 ripe peaches, peeled, pitted, and sliced
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)

Tea

  • 3 black tea bags
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Serving

  • Ice
  • Fresh peach slices and mint for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Peach Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine 3 cups of water and the sliced peaches. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes until the peaches are soft and fragrant. Use a spoon or potato masher to gently mash the peaches and release their juices.
  2. Sweeten the Syrup: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the sugar until fully dissolved. Let the mixture cool slightly before straining.
  3. Strain Peach Syrup: Strain the peach syrup through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl, pressing to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids.
  4. Brew the Tea: In a separate pot, bring the remaining 3 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat and steep the tea bags for 5–7 minutes.
  5. Combine Ingredients: Remove the tea bags and stir in the peach syrup and lemon juice.
  6. Chill: Refrigerate the tea for at least 2 hours to cool and allow flavors to meld.
  7. Serve: Serve the peach sweet tea over ice, garnished with fresh peach slices and mint if desired.

Notes

  • You can make the peach syrup ahead and store it in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less sugar, or try honey as a natural alternative.
  • For a stronger tea flavor, steep the tea bags a bit longer.
