Ingredients
Scale
Tea Base
- 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers (whole or loosely packed for depth of flavor)
- 2 cups purified water
Fruit
- 1 large fresh ripe peach (washed, peeled, and chopped into bite-sized cubes)
Sweetener
- Honey or sugar to taste
Instructions
- Simmer Hibiscus: In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of purified water and 1 cup of dried hibiscus flowers. Heat over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, letting it infuse the water with vibrant color and tart flavor for about 5 minutes.
- Steep the Tea: Remove the saucepan from heat once simmering is achieved. Cover it tightly and let the hibiscus steep for 10 to 15 minutes to draw out maximum flavor and aroma.
- Prepare the Peach: While the tea is steeping, wash and peel 1 large ripe peach. Chop it into bite-sized cubes to blend texture and sweetness into the tea.
- Strain the Tea: Use a fine mesh sieve to strain the hibiscus tea into a pitcher, removing all flower bits and leaving a clear, ruby-red infusion ready for serving.
- Add Peaches: Gently stir the chopped peach cubes into the strained hibiscus tea, allowing their natural juices and sweetness to meld with the tart tea.
- Sweeten: While the tea is still warm, add honey or sugar according to your preferred level of sweetness. Stir well to dissolve completely.
- Chill or Serve Warm: For a cold beverage, let the tea cool to room temperature and then refrigerate until chilled. Alternatively, serve it warm for a soothing and floral experience.
Notes
- You can substitute the peach with mango or nectarine for a different fruity twist.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey or sugar according to your taste preference.
- Ensure to use purified water for the cleanest and best tasting tea.
- The tea can be stored refrigerated for up to 2 days.
- For extra flavor, consider adding a sprig of fresh mint or a slice of lemon before serving.
