Description

Mounds coconut candy is a homemade version of the classic treat, combining sweet shredded coconut and condensed milk, dipped in rich dark chocolate for a chewy, satisfying bite.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups sweetened shredded coconut
  • 2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 10 oz dark chocolate, chopped or chips

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine shredded coconut, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir until fully combined.
  2. Using your hands or a small scoop, form mixture into small rectangular or oval shapes and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Freeze for 20–30 minutes to firm up.
  4. Melt dark chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  5. Dip each coconut piece into melted chocolate using a fork, letting excess drip off, then place back on the parchment paper.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for 15–20 minutes until chocolate sets.
  7. Store candies in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • Add a whole almond to the center of each piece before dipping for a homemade Almond Joy variation.
  • Use high-quality dark chocolate for best flavor and smooth coating.
  • To make vegan, use sweetened condensed coconut milk and dairy-free chocolate.
