Description
Mounds coconut candy is a homemade version of the classic treat, combining sweet shredded coconut and condensed milk, dipped in rich dark chocolate for a chewy, satisfying bite.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups sweetened shredded coconut
- 2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- 10 oz dark chocolate, chopped or chips
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine shredded coconut, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir until fully combined.
- Using your hands or a small scoop, form mixture into small rectangular or oval shapes and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Freeze for 20–30 minutes to firm up.
- Melt dark chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
- Dip each coconut piece into melted chocolate using a fork, letting excess drip off, then place back on the parchment paper.
- Chill in the refrigerator for 15–20 minutes until chocolate sets.
- Store candies in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
- Add a whole almond to the center of each piece before dipping for a homemade Almond Joy variation.
- Use high-quality dark chocolate for best flavor and smooth coating.
- To make vegan, use sweetened condensed coconut milk and dairy-free chocolate.
