Ingredients
Scale
Chicken Mixture
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried oregano)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For Cooking
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
Instructions
- Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, red onion, garlic, parsley, oregano, lemon juice, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together until well combined to ensure all flavors are evenly distributed.
- Form Patties: Shape the mixture into small patties, approximately 1 to 1 1/2 inches in diameter, making sure they are compact but not too dense for even cooking.
- Heat Skillet and Cook: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the patties into the skillet. Cook them in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding, allowing 4-5 minutes per side until they are golden brown and fully cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C) for safety.
- Rest and Serve: Remove the patties from the skillet and let them rest for a couple of minutes to allow the juices to redistribute. Serve warm as a main dish or as a flavorful addition to salads or sandwiches.
Notes
- Use whole wheat breadcrumbs for added fiber and better nutrition.
- Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer to ensure food safety.
- Fresh herbs provide the best flavor, but dried oregano works fine in a pinch.
- These patties can be served with tzatziki sauce or a side salad for a Mediterranean-inspired meal.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 1 month.
