Description
A savory and sweet breakfast sandwich featuring flaky croissants, eggs, cheese, and a delicious maple mustard sauce.
Ingredients
- 2 croissants, halved
- 2 large eggs
- 2 slices of cheddar cheese
- 2 slices of cooked bacon or ham (optional)
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together maple syrup and Dijon mustard to create the sauce. Set aside.
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and cook the eggs to your desired doneness. Season with salt and pepper.
- Warm the croissant halves in a toaster oven or skillet until lightly toasted.
- Spread the maple mustard sauce on the inside of each croissant half.
- Layer the cooked egg, cheese slice, and bacon or ham (if using) on the bottom half of the croissant.
- Top with the other croissant half and press gently.
- Serve immediately while warm.
Notes
- You can substitute cheddar with Swiss or gouda for a different flavor.
- Vegetarian option: omit bacon/ham and add sautéed spinach or avocado.
- Make the sauce ahead of time and store it in the fridge for up to a week.
