Description

A savory and sweet breakfast sandwich featuring flaky croissants, eggs, cheese, and a delicious maple mustard sauce.

Ingredients

  • 2 croissants, halved
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 2 slices of cooked bacon or ham (optional)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together maple syrup and Dijon mustard to create the sauce. Set aside.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and cook the eggs to your desired doneness. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Warm the croissant halves in a toaster oven or skillet until lightly toasted.
  4. Spread the maple mustard sauce on the inside of each croissant half.
  5. Layer the cooked egg, cheese slice, and bacon or ham (if using) on the bottom half of the croissant.
  6. Top with the other croissant half and press gently.
  7. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • You can substitute cheddar with Swiss or gouda for a different flavor.
  • Vegetarian option: omit bacon/ham and add sautéed spinach or avocado.
  • Make the sauce ahead of time and store it in the fridge for up to a week.
