Description

Laccha Pyaz is a flavorful and refreshing Indian side dish made from thinly sliced onions, mixed with lemon, spices, and herbs, often served with kebabs, biryanis, or other main dishes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon chaat masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Thinly slice the onion and place it in a mixing bowl.
  2. Sprinkle the salt and red chili powder over the onions.
  3. Add the cumin powder, chaat masala, black salt (if using), and green chili (if desired).
  4. Pour lemon juice over the onion mixture and toss everything well.
  5. Let the onions rest for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  6. Garnish with chopped fresh coriander leaves and serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of spices to your taste preference.
  • For added flavor, you can include thinly sliced cucumber or carrots along with onions.
  • Laccha Pyaz can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 1 day.
