Description

Honey Bun Cake is a moist and delicious cinnamon-swirled cake topped with a sweet glaze, reminiscent of a classic honey bun pastry.


Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the yellow cake mix, eggs, sour cream, and oil until well combined.
  3. Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the batter.
  6. Pour the remaining batter over the cinnamon-sugar layer and spread evenly.
  7. Use a knife to gently swirl the batter, creating a marbled effect.
  8. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. In a separate bowl, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth to make the glaze.
  10. While the cake is still warm, pour the glaze over the top. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

  • For added flavor, add a teaspoon of maple extract to the glaze.
  • This cake tastes even better the next day.
  • Store covered at room temperature for up to 3 days.
