Scale
- 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni (or your favorite toppings)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Divide the pizza dough into two equal portions. On a lightly floured surface, shape each into a heart by rolling into an oval and pinching the top center, shaping the bottom into a point.
- Transfer the shaped dough hearts to the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush each heart with olive oil, then spread about 1/4 cup of pizza sauce evenly on each.
- Sprinkle 3/4 cup mozzarella on each, then distribute pepperoni slices on top.
- Sprinkle a little dried oregano over each pizza for extra flavor.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
- Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
- Slice and serve warm.
Notes
- You can customize toppings: veggies, cooked sausage, or a mix of cheeses.
- For crispier crust, prebake shaped dough for 3–4 minutes before adding toppings.
- Use a pizza stone or cast-iron skillet to enhance crispness.
- Leftover dough can be stored in refrigerator for up to 2 days.
