Description

Gyeran Bap, or Korean Egg Rice, is a quick and comforting Korean dish made with steamed rice, a fried or scrambled egg, and savory seasonings like soy sauce and sesame oil.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup cooked white rice (preferably warm)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp butter or oil for frying
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat butter or oil in a small pan over medium heat.
  2. Crack the egg into the pan and cook to your preferred doneness (fried or scrambled).
  3. Place the warm cooked rice in a bowl.
  4. Top the rice with the cooked egg.
  5. Drizzle soy sauce and sesame oil over the top.
  6. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Mix everything together before eating for best flavor.

Notes

  • You can add kimchi, seaweed, or a dash of gochujang for extra flavor.
  • Using day-old rice can improve texture and absorption of flavors.
  • This dish can be easily doubled or tripled for more servings.
