A creamy and tangy French onion dip made with Greek yogurt, perfect for a healthier twist on a classic party favorite.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 large yellow onions, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 cups plain Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
- Chopped chives, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add chopped onions and cook slowly, stirring frequently, until deeply caramelized, about 25-30 minutes.
- Season onions with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Remove onions from heat and let cool completely.
- In a mixing bowl, combine Greek yogurt, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, and cooled caramelized onions.
- Stir until well mixed and smooth.
- Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow flavors to blend.
- Garnish with chopped chives if desired and serve with chips or vegetables.
