Description

A creamy and tangy French onion dip made with Greek yogurt, perfect for a healthier twist on a classic party favorite.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 large yellow onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 cups plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • Chopped chives, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onions and cook slowly, stirring frequently, until deeply caramelized, about 25-30 minutes.
  3. Season onions with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  4. Remove onions from heat and let cool completely.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine Greek yogurt, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, and cooled caramelized onions.
  6. Stir until well mixed and smooth.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow flavors to blend.
  8. Garnish with chopped chives if desired and serve with chips or vegetables.

Notes

  • Use full-fat Greek yogurt for a creamier texture.
  • Dip can be made a day ahead for deeper flavor.
  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
