Description

Juicy Greek-inspired beef burgers stuffed with tangy feta cheese, served with a refreshing homemade tzatziki sauce for a flavorful Mediterranean twist.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 burger buns
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cucumber, grated
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh dill
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for tzatziki)
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (for tzatziki)
  • Salt to taste (for tzatziki)
  • Lettuce, tomato slices, and red onion rings for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat grill or skillet over medium heat.
  2. In a bowl, combine ground beef, red onion, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and flatten into thin patties.
  4. Place a spoonful of feta cheese in the center of 4 patties, then top with the remaining patties, sealing the edges tightly to enclose the cheese.
  5. Brush each burger with olive oil and grill for 5-6 minutes per side or until fully cooked.
  6. To make the tzatziki sauce, squeeze excess water from the grated cucumber, then mix with Greek yogurt, lemon juice, dill, olive oil, minced garlic, and salt. Stir well and chill until serving.
  7. Toast the burger buns if desired. Place lettuce, tomato, and onion on the bottom bun, top with the burger, then add tzatziki sauce and top bun.
  8. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground lamb for beef for a more traditional Greek flavor.
  • Make sure to drain the cucumber well to avoid a watery tzatziki sauce.
  • These burgers can also be cooked in a skillet if a grill is not available.
