Description

Fresno Poppers are a spicy and savory appetizer made with fresh Fresno chilies, stuffed with cheese and bacon, then baked to perfection. They are perfect for anyone who loves a bit of heat with their appetizers.


Ingredients

  • 8 Fresno peppers
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 4 oz shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cut the tops off the Fresno peppers and remove the seeds and membranes.
  3. In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Stuff the Fresno peppers with the cheese and bacon mixture.
  5. Place the stuffed peppers on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the peppers are tender and the cheese is bubbly.
  6. Optional: Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.

Notes

  • For a milder version, remove more of the seeds and membranes from the peppers.
  • Feel free to substitute the cheddar cheese with any other cheese of your choice.
  • If you prefer extra heat, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the filling.
