Description

A sweet, tangy, and slightly spicy dipping sauce perfect for egg rolls, spring rolls, and dumplings.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp chili garlic sauce or Sriracha (optional)
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp green onions, finely sliced
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey (or brown sugar), and sesame oil.
  2. Add chili garlic sauce, garlic, and ginger. Stir well to combine.
  3. Mix in green onions and sesame seeds, if using.
  4. Let sit for 5–10 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  5. Serve as a dipping sauce with egg rolls or refrigerate in a sealed container for up to 1 week.

Notes

  • For a thicker sauce, add 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tsp water and simmer briefly until thickened.
  • Adjust sweetness and spice to taste.
  • Substitute maple syrup or agave for a vegan option.
  • Add a dash of hoisin or oyster sauce for more depth.
  • Serve warm or cold depending on preference.
