Description
A sweet, tangy, and slightly spicy dipping sauce perfect for egg rolls, spring rolls, and dumplings.
Ingredients
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp honey or brown sugar
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp chili garlic sauce or Sriracha (optional)
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
- 1 tbsp green onions, finely sliced
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey (or brown sugar), and sesame oil.
- Add chili garlic sauce, garlic, and ginger. Stir well to combine.
- Mix in green onions and sesame seeds, if using.
- Let sit for 5–10 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
- Serve as a dipping sauce with egg rolls or refrigerate in a sealed container for up to 1 week.
Notes
- For a thicker sauce, add 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tsp water and simmer briefly until thickened.
- Adjust sweetness and spice to taste.
- Substitute maple syrup or agave for a vegan option.
- Add a dash of hoisin or oyster sauce for more depth.
- Serve warm or cold depending on preference.
