A quick and flavorful garlic‑butter spread baked on crusty bread for a warm, cheesy appetizer or side.
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup (≈75 g) softened butter
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tsp garlic powder (or 5 cloves fresh minced garlic*)
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp onion powder
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (or 1 tsp dried)
- 1 loaf French or Italian bread
- Optional: ¼ cup grated Parmesan or shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 °F (175 °C).
- In a bowl, blend butter and mayonnaise until smooth.
- Stir in garlic powder (or fresh garlic), salt, onion powder, and parsley.
- Slice bread in half lengthwise and place cut‑side up on baking sheet.
- Spread mixture evenly over bread.
- Bake about 10 minutes, then broil 1–2 minutes until golden.
- If using cheese, sprinkle it on during the last 2 minutes of baking.
- Slice and serve warm.
Notes
- Use fresh garlic for stronger flavor.
- Sub dried parsley or Italian seasoning if fresh isn’t available.
- Add red pepper flakes for heat.
- Make ahead: refrigerate spread up to 1 week, or assemble bread and bake within 24 hrs.
- Freeze leftover spread as small logs or cubes for future use.
