Description

Duchess Potatoes are a classic and elegant side dish made from creamy mashed potatoes, butter, heavy cream, and egg yolks. These potatoes are piped into swirls and baked to golden perfection, offering a smooth, buttery texture with crispy edges. A perfect addition to any special meal or holiday celebration.

Ingredients

  • unsalted butter
  • heavy cream
  • egg yolks
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • nutmeg
  • mashed potatoes (prepared in advance)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine your mashed potatoes with butter, heavy cream, egg yolks, salt, pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg. Stir until smooth and well-blended.
  3. Transfer the mashed potato mixture into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
  4. Pipe the potatoes onto the prepared baking sheet into small swirls or mounds, about 2-3 inches in diameter.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the potatoes are golden brown on the edges and slightly crisp on top.
  6. Remove from the oven and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a cheesy twist, add grated Parmesan or cheddar to the mashed potato mixture.
  • Herbs like chives, rosemary, or thyme can be added for extra flavor.
  • For a garlic flavor, incorporate roasted garlic into the mashed potatoes.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the oven or microwave to enjoy again.
