Description

Disney Churro Bites are delightful, bite-sized fried dough treats coated in cinnamon sugar, inspired by the beloved Disney park snack. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, these homemade churros are perfect as a dessert or snack and bring a fun, nostalgic flavor to your kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale

Churro Dough

  • 1 cup water
  • 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine water, butter, salt, and 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat and stir in the flour all at once. Stir vigorously until the dough forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes to avoid scrambling the eggs.
  2. Incorporate the eggs: Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Continue to stir until the dough is smooth, glossy, and well combined, ensuring the batter is ready for frying.
  3. Heat the oil: In a large pot or deep skillet, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to maintain accurate temperature for perfect frying.
  4. Pipe and fry the churro bites: Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe 1-inch pieces of dough directly into the hot oil, cutting the dough with scissors as you go. Fry in batches for 2 to 3 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  5. Drain and coat: Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried churro bites from the oil and drain on paper towels. While still warm, toss the bites in a shallow bowl with the granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon mixture until fully coated.
  6. Serve: Serve the churro bites immediately for the best texture and flavor. Optionally, pair them with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche for dipping.

Notes

  • Serve with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche for a delicious dipping experience.
  • Best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be reheated in the oven at 300°F for a few minutes to regain crispiness.
  • Maintain oil temperature at 350°F for optimal frying results and to avoid greasy churros.
