  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add chicken and sear on both sides until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add butter and sauté the chopped onion until translucent, about 3 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  4. Sprinkle in the flour and stir for 1 minute to form a roux.
  5. Slowly whisk in the chicken broth and heavy cream, then add dried thyme. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Return the chicken to the skillet, spoon sauce over the top, cover, and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 15-20 minutes or until chicken is cooked through.
  7. Serve chicken and sauce over a bed of cooked white rice, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

  • Use bone-in chicken for extra flavor if preferred, but adjust cooking time accordingly.
  • Substitute heavy cream with half-and-half for a lighter version.
