- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon juice until smooth.
- Unfold the puff pastry sheet and cut into 4 equal squares.
- Spoon the cream cheese mixture into the center of each square.
- Fold the corners of the pastry slightly inward or twist them for a decorative shape.
- Whisk egg and water together to make the egg wash and brush over the pastry edges.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
- Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- Ensure cream cheese is softened for easy mixing.
- You can add fruit preserves on top of the cream cheese filling for variety.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
