Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 4 cups bite-sized puffed corn cereal (like Corn Pops or churro-style cereal)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- pinch of salt
Wet Ingredients
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare Cinnamon Sugar Mix: In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Set this mixture aside for later use.
- Melt Butter Mixture: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add the brown sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt, stirring constantly until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Remove the pan from heat once done.
- Coat the Cereal: Transfer the puffed corn cereal to a large mixing bowl. Pour the warm butter mixture over the cereal and gently toss to ensure every piece is evenly coated.
- Add Cinnamon Sugar: While the coated cereal is still warm, sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over it. Toss again gently until all cereal pieces are well covered with the cinnamon sugar.
- Cool and Crisp: Spread the churro snacks out in a single layer on a baking sheet. Allow them to cool for 10 to 15 minutes to crisp up before storing.
- Store: Once completely cool, transfer the churro snacks to an airtight container to maintain their crunch and freshness.
Notes
- Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or drizzle with melted chocolate for an extra flavor twist.
- Perfect for lunchboxes, party snacks, or holiday treats.
