Description

These Chicken Philly Sliders are a quick and delicious twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak sandwich, featuring tender shredded rotisserie chicken, sautéed bell peppers and onions, smothered in savory gravy and melted provolone cheese, all served on soft brioche rolls. Perfect for a crowd-pleasing appetizer or easy meal, they bake in just 30 minutes to golden, gooey perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Vegetables and Protein

  • ½ tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup diced green bell pepper
  • 1 cup diced yellow onion
  • 2 ½ cups shredded rotisserie chicken

Sauce and Seasoning

  • ½ cup water
  • 0.87 oz chicken gravy mix (approximately 1 packet)
  • ½ tablespoon Montreal steak spice

Bread and Cheese

  • 12 brioche dinner rolls
  • 8 slices Provolone cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F to ensure it reaches the ideal temperature for baking the sliders evenly.
  2. Sauté Vegetables: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced green bell peppers and yellow onions, cooking until they start to brown and develop sweetness.
  3. Add Chicken: Stir in the shredded rotisserie chicken, mixing well with the sautéed vegetables.
  4. Make Gravy Mixture: Pour in the water and add the chicken gravy mix. Stir thoroughly to coat the chicken and vegetables evenly. Reduce the heat to low to allow flavors to combine.
  5. Prepare Rolls: Slice each brioche dinner roll horizontally. Arrange the bottom halves on a baking sheet to prepare for assembly.
  6. Assemble Sliders: Spoon the chicken mixture onto the bottom halves of the rolls, spreading evenly. Place provolone cheese slices on top of the chicken mixture, then cover with the top halves of the rolls.
  7. Apply Butter and Spice: Brush the melted butter on the tops of the buns to enhance browning and flavor. Sprinkle the Montreal steak spice evenly over the buttered buns.
  8. Bake: Cover the sliders with aluminum foil to keep moisture in. Bake in the preheated oven for 17 to 20 minutes, until the cheese has melted and buns are golden brown.
  9. Serve: Remove the sliders from the oven, pull them apart carefully, and serve warm for a delicious, crowd-pleasing dish.

Notes

  • You can substitute rotisserie chicken with leftover cooked chicken for convenience.
  • If you prefer spicier sliders, add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes when sautéing vegetables.
  • Using brioche rolls provides a soft, slightly sweet contrast but you can use any soft dinner rolls available.
  • Covering the sliders with foil while baking prevents them from drying out.
  • Montreal steak spice adds a great flavor twist but can be substituted with Italian seasoning or your preferred spice blend.
