Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning (or 2 tablespoons homemade taco seasoning)
- ½ cup water
- 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
- 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough or pizza dough
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions (optional)
For Serving
- Sour cream
- Salsa
- Guacamole
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Cook Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until thoroughly browned. Make sure to break up the meat so it cooks evenly. Once browned, drain any excess fat from the pan.
- Season Meat: Add the taco seasoning and water to the cooked beef. Stir well and let it simmer for 3–4 minutes until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and allow the meat mixture to cool slightly before assembling.
- Prepare Dough: Unroll the crescent or pizza dough into a rectangle on a flat surface. If using crescent rolls, press the seams together firmly to form one continuous sheet.
- Assemble Roll-Ups: Evenly spread the cooled taco meat mixture over the dough. Sprinkle shredded cheese and chopped green onions evenly on top.
- Roll and Slice: Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Using a sharp knife, slice the log into 8 to 10 pieces, depending on desired size.
- Bake: Place the roll-up slices cut-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until the dough turns golden brown and is cooked through.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve warm with sour cream, salsa, or guacamole for dipping alongside your favorite taco toppings.
Notes
- To add variety, mix black beans, corn, or jalapeños into the beef filling before spreading onto the dough.
- These roll-ups work perfectly as appetizers, party snacks, or quick dinners especially loved by kids.
- Use a blend of cheeses for extra flavor, like mixing cheddar with Monterey Jack or pepper jack.
- Make sure the meat filling is cooled before assembling to prevent the dough from becoming soggy.
