Ingredients
Scale
Bread
- 1 loaf French or Italian Bread (Day-old bread preferred)
Meat and Cheese
- 1 lb Ribeye Steak (Can substitute with deli roast beef or rotisserie chicken)
- 8 oz Provolone Cheese (Alternatives include mozzarella or American cheese)
Vegetables
- 1 medium Onion (Sliced, can use red or yellow)
- 1 medium Bell Pepper (Sliced, can substitute with jalapeños)
- 2 cloves Garlic (Minced, fresh garlic preferred)
Seasonings and Oils
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce (Soy sauce can be a substitute)
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Black Pepper
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil or Butter (For sautéing)
- 2 tbsp Fresh Parsley (Chopped)
- 2 tbsp Melted Butter (For brushing before serving)
Instructions
- Preparation Steps: Gather and prepare all ingredients, slicing the onion, bell pepper, and garlic, and thinly slicing the ribeye steak for easy cooking.
- Preheat Oven: Set the oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the stuffed bread.
- Prepare Bread: Cut off the top of the bread loaf and carefully hollow out the center, creating a cavity to hold the filling without breaking the crust.
- Sauté Vegetables: Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and bell peppers, cooking for 5-7 minutes until softened and slightly caramelized.
- Add Garlic and Steak: Stir in minced garlic and sauté for another minute until fragrant. Then add sliced ribeye steak, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Cook until the steak is warmed through and flavors are combined, about 3-4 minutes.
- Assemble Bread: Brush the inside of the hollowed loaf with melted butter. Layer half of the provolone cheese at the bottom, spoon the steak and vegetable mixture evenly inside, then top with the remaining cheese.
- Bake: Place the stuffed bread on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven, brush the edges with melted butter, sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley, slice, and serve warm for a comforting family feast.
Notes
- Day-old bread works best as it holds the filling better without becoming soggy.
- You can substitute ribeye steak with deli roast beef or rotisserie chicken for a quicker version.
- For extra heat, use jalapeños instead of bell peppers.
- Use a sharp knife when hollowing out the bread to avoid breaking the crust.
- Serve with a side salad or your favorite dipping sauce for a complete meal.
