Description

A fragrant Italian-style dipping oil blending olive oil, garlic and Italian herbs—just like at Carrabba’s.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp dried basil
  • 1 tbsp dried parsley
  • 1½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp dried rosemary
  • 1½ tsp coarse sea salt
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, crushed or minced
  • Extra virgin olive oil (to serve)

Instructions

  1. Combine crushed red pepper, black pepper, oregano, basil, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, rosemary, sea salt and fresh garlic in a small bowl.
  2. If serving immediately, spoon ~1 tbsp of spice mix into a shallow dish.
  3. Drizzle about ⅓ cup extra virgin olive oil over the spices (adjust to taste).
  4. Toss gently or swirl bread in it. Serve immediately. Save extra spice mix in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Use 1 Tbsp dry mix per ¼–⅓ cup olive oil.
  • You can mix fresh herbs with dried or substitute dried garlic if omitting fresh garlic.
  • Best quality extra virgin olive oil uplifts the flavor.
  • Store dry spice mix in airtight container for several weeks; omit fresh garlic for longer storage.
