Description

Buffalo Hummus is a flavorful twist on classic hummus, combining creamy chickpeas with the spicy kick of cayenne pepper hot sauce for a perfect appetizer or snack. This quick and easy recipe blends simple ingredients into a smooth, creamy dip that pairs wonderfully with pita bread, chips, or fresh vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale

Buffalo Hummus Ingredients

  • 1 (14 ounce) can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1/4 cup cayenne pepper hot sauce (Frank’s recommended)
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Fresh chives, for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Drain and rinse the chickpeas thoroughly to remove excess liquid and any canned taste. Peel the garlic clove and gather all other ingredients to have them ready for blending.
  2. Blend the Hummus: Place the chickpeas, garlic clove, cayenne pepper hot sauce, tahini, olive oil, and salt into the bowl of a food processor. Blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy, pausing occasionally to scrape down the sides of the bowl to ensure even blending.
  3. Serve: Transfer the blended hummus to a serving bowl. Optionally, sprinkle freshly chopped chives on top for added color and flavor. Serve immediately with pita bread, chips, or fresh vegetables for dipping.

Notes

  • Use Frank’s red hot sauce for authentic buffalo flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of hot sauce to control the level of spiciness.
  • For a smoother texture, you can peel chickpeas before blending, although this is optional.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume within 3-4 days.
  • Chives add a nice fresh garnish but can be omitted if unavailable.
