Ingredients
Scale
Filling
- 2 cups cooked shredded chicken
- 1/3 cup buffalo wing sauce
- 2 tablespoons ranch or blue cheese dressing
Bread & Topping
- 4 sub rolls or hoagie rolls
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)
- Extra buffalo sauce for drizzling (optional)
- Extra ranch or blue cheese dressing for drizzling (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the stuffed subs.
- Mix the filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken with buffalo wing sauce and ranch or blue cheese dressing, stirring well to evenly coat the chicken with the sauce mixture.
- Prepare the rolls: Slice the sub rolls lengthwise, slicing carefully to avoid cutting all the way through. Gently scoop out some of the bread inside each roll to create a hollow space for the filling.
- Butter the rolls: Mix the melted unsalted butter with garlic powder and brush this mixture over the insides and tops of the sub rolls for added flavor and a golden crust.
- Assemble the subs: Stuff each prepared roll generously with the buffalo chicken mixture. Top the filling with mozzarella and cheddar cheeses evenly distributed over the chicken.
- Bake: Place the stuffed subs on a baking sheet lined with foil or parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese has melted completely, is bubbly, and the bread turns golden brown.
- Garnish and serve: Remove the subs from the oven and garnish with chopped parsley. Drizzle with extra buffalo sauce and ranch or blue cheese dressing if desired. Serve the subs hot for best taste and texture.
Notes
- Use rotisserie chicken as a convenient shortcut to save time.
- Add sliced green onions or diced celery to the filling for a crunchy texture.
- Serve these subs with a side of ranch dressing or a crisp green salad for a complete meal.
