Description
A comforting and hearty beef noodle casserole made with ground beef, egg noodles, tomato sauce, and cheese, perfect for a family dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 8 oz egg noodles
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook egg noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic; sauté until fragrant.
- Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix sour cream and cottage cheese together.
- In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, layer half the noodles, then half the sour cream mixture, then half the beef mixture. Repeat layers.
- Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute cottage cheese with ricotta if preferred.
- Add chopped bell peppers or mushrooms for extra vegetables.
- Use whole wheat noodles for a healthier option.
