Main Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 jalapeño, diced
- 1 pound ground beef
- ½ cup soy sauce (low sodium, optional)
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons black pepper
Optional
- Cooked rice (to serve)
Instructions
- Heat the pan: Melt butter in a large pan over medium heat until fully melted and shimmering.
- Sauté vegetables: Add diced onion, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, and jalapeño to the pan. Cook and stir for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are softened but still vibrant.
- Cook beef: Add the ground beef to the pan with the vegetables. Cook, breaking up the beef with a spatula, until the beef is fully browned and the vegetables are tender. Drain any excess grease from the pan to keep the dish balanced.
- Season: Stir in the soy sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly to evenly coat the beef and peppers with the seasoning for a rich, savory flavor.
- Serve: Spoon the beef and pepper mixture over warm cooked rice. Serve immediately while hot for the best taste and texture.
Notes
- Use low sodium soy sauce to control salt content.
- Adjust jalapeño amount to control spice level.
- Drain excess grease for a leaner meal.
- Can be served with brown rice or quinoa for a healthier option.
- Leftovers keep well refrigerated for up to 3 days.
