Description

A delicious fusion of banana bread and classic cinnamon rolls, combining the soft, sweet flavor of bananas with a rich cinnamon swirl and creamy glaze.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk, warm
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 1/23 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for filling)
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 12 tbsp milk (for desired frosting consistency)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine mashed bananas, granulated sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, and salt. Add in yeast mixture and stir to combine.
  3. Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle. Spread with softened butter, sprinkle evenly with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Roll up the dough tightly and cut into 12 even rolls. Place in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. While rolls bake, make the frosting: beat cream cheese and butter together until smooth. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk, mixing until creamy.
  9. Let rolls cool slightly before spreading with cream cheese frosting. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for best flavor.
  • You can add chopped nuts or chocolate chips to the filling for extra texture.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat slightly before serving.
