- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup red, white, and blue sprinkles
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the sprinkles and white chocolate chips, if using.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized dough balls onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Do not overbake to keep the cookies soft and chewy.
- You can chill the dough for 30 minutes for a thicker cookie.
- Use gel food coloring if you want to tint the dough itself for more color.
